Portable water filters for camping and travel
Most people who camp and travel take bottled water, but having your own mini filtration system on hand is cost effective when you use tap or river water. It can help with lowering the contaminant levels in your water. It’s necessary since some campgrounds have outhouse type toilets, which can contaminate ground water with the urine, and fecal matter so it’s necessary to use filtration especially for camping because of the tap water may not be sufficient in terms of sanitation. When traveling it wouldn’t be necessary for using filtration unless you’re going to be traveling between places and won’t have access to clean water for a while. What people need to be aware of is that when you’re in the forest or wooded areas that it’s wise not to drink river water because animals bathe in the streams and will use the bathroom in it and even humans will do the same thing to so it’s wise not to consume water straight out of a natural source that’s frequented by humans and animals for food and bathing. People who do long hikes should carry portable water filters because they will be too far away from a place that they can access clean water for drinking and it’s easier to have it with them than to wing it and end up getting sick off the water because animals and other humans have bathed in a water source. It’s easier to carry already filtered water and then when you start to run out then replenish by filtering it on your own. Places that usually have limited water and you’re concerned with coming into contact with contaminants it would be wise to carry your own filtered water or filtration system to be able to filter your water. Stay clear of camping areas or residential areas that are located near a filtration plant because the quality of the water may not be as well as it should be and to just come with water already filtered or a small filtering system if you have to replenish your water supply. It’s a good idea to check with different campgrounds to make sure that you know any water sources aren’t being used for bathing or the wildlife doesn’t frequent since there’s a high chance the water is being used for bathing and animals having used the bathroom in a water source that people use for drinking. Today’s natural sources aren’t like they used to be since they’re slowly becoming contaminated from waste and various kinds of pollution making it into the water sources. There are laws protecting places with natural water sources to be able to keep them clean so if it’s used for drinking and limited bathing. Many campgrounds usually provide some kind of toilet facilities that rely on running water and removing the outhouse facilities due to the high pollution rate of urine and fecal matter and it causing a problem for sanitation and insects. It’s practical if places are trying to eliminate disease-causing bacteria from water sources that are attributed to the high pollution rate of waste products.
